How It Went Down - August 12, 2011

Well, the On-Air-Versary was a success. My wife really enjoyed the experience and ultimately that's all that matters (that and doing a 'good' show).

Thanks to Jonas Bonnetta, Greg MacPherson and Steve St. Louis for participating. Be sure to check out Evening Hymns' website for info on the upcoming record, mark your calendar for GMac's Loud and Soft CD release shows, and catch Steve (aka 5 O'Clock Charlie) on the Funk Boat.

Here's what was played:

Set One: 6:30 PM - 7 PM

Ken Boothe - "Everything I Own" [Trojan Records]
Interview with Jonas Bonnetta of Evening Hymns
Evening Hymns - "If I Handle You With Care" [Trembling Blue Stars cover]
Evening Hymns - "Sentimental Reasons" [Live at UMFM]
Parlour Steps - "Subtle" [Figment Music]

Set Two: 7 PM - 7:30 PM

Greg MacPherson - "Brothers" [Live at UMFM]
Greg MacPherson - "River Lake" [Live at UMFM]
Interview with Greg MacPherson
Greg MacPherson - "Frequencies" [Disintegration Records]
Greg MacPherson - "Long Goodbye" [Live at UMFM]

Set Three: 7:30 PM - 8 PM

5 O'Clock Charlie mix segment:
Stevie Wonder - "Too High"
Eastside Connection - "You're So Right For Me"
Roy Ayers - "Can't You See Me"
Archie Bell & The Drells - "Strategy"
Leroy Hutson - "Lucky Fellow"
Alicia Myers - "Appreciation"
Willie Wright - "Right On For The Darkness"
Kool & The Gang - "Duuji"

This week's show (August 19th) will be another busy one, featuring The F-Holes performing live in advance of their Angel In The Corner CD release show, an interview with Alex from A.M. Overcast, and *fingers-crossed* an interview with Little Dragon.

On-Air-Versary - August 5 2011

This Friday is a special edition of TGIFR. August 12th is my fifth wedding anniversary with my wonderful wife Michelle. To mark the occasion, the show will be an 'On-Air-Versary' party featuring some of her favourite artists and music. I won't talk details so as to not spoil the surprised, but suffice it to say the typical format will remain with interviews, live performances and new music aplenty. Tune in and join in the celebration!
