How It Went Down - January 28 2011

So it was a busy show and my first in the comfortable confines of the newly renovated broadcast studio. Winnipeg duo Alpha Couple joined me first and while Gregory Pepper called in to talk Common Grackle, his project with Factor, Christine Fellows paid an in-person visit to deliver and discuss her new album, Femme De Chez Nous.

Here's what was played:

Set One: 6:30 PM - 7 PM

Ream Daranoi - "Fai Yen" [Soundway]
Interview with Alpha Couple
Alpha Couple - "Stealing Ink" [Independent]
Twin - "Prairie Loon" [Independent]

Set Two: 7 PM - 7:30 PM

Interview with Gregory Pepper of Common Grackle
Common Grackle - "All The Pawns" [Fake Four]
Enjoy Your Pumas - "Weight Of The Circles" [Independent]
Deerhoof - "Secret Mobilization" [Polyvinyl]
Yann Tiersen - "Ashes" [Anti-]

Set Three: 7:30 PM - 8 PM

Christine Fellows - "Antipodes" [Six Shooter Records]
Interview with Christine Fellows
Destroyer - "Chinatown" [Merge]
Cut Copy - "Blink And You'll Miss A Revolution" [Modular]

**The show on February 4th may include a phoner with Behind Sapphire (who are playing Le Garage on Saturday the 5th), though sadly an interview with Swedish pop geniuses Radio Dept. has been pushed back to the February 11th show. Feb 4th will also include an in-depth interview with U of M Linguistics prof Jila Ghomeshi about her new book Grammar Matters.
